The Statue of Liberty illuminates the date July 4 1776 upon the keystone of human history for all the world to see and understand : The birth of a Nation Under God symbolized in America's Great Seal.
Most Americans want to provide for the children healthy
families, communities and nation in which to grow and thrive. However, many
American citizens find the deceit, incivility and functional paralysis of contemporary
America disturbing; an invitation to ruin. America’s political problems require
a new vision … or maybe a new look at an old vision... America’s founding vision. It’s worth pursuing for the sake of the
children.
For those who understand the history and meaning of the Great
Seal realize that it is an emblem of citizenship and a valid vision for the
future. The most common act of citizenship today is the daily reciting of the Pledge
of Allegiance by millions of American schoolchildren. Some object to forcing
children to pledge to something they do not understand.
Their eyes are upon the stars and stripes when reciting the pledge, but
the words they are saying are directly taken from and describe the Great Seal. It
would be ideal for them to have an image of the Great Seal in front of them or
at least in their minds eye; so they can more fully understand what they are
saying.
“Symbolically, the Great Seal reflects the beliefs and values the Founding
Fathers attached to the new nation and wish to pass on to their descendants.” US State Dept. July 2003
Can you imagine the depth and power of a patriotic essay
written by a knowledgeable grade school student being prompted by the image of
the Great Seal on the back of the dollar bill; students who understood the
beliefs and values America’s Founding Fathers symbolized for them in the nation’s
Great Seal?
